Cat Things

Amongst the other roles I play in life - daughter, sister, aunt, friend, neighbour, employee, webdesign geek and so on - I also have the honour to be She Who Opens the Catfood Tins for the Three Earls of Pouncefoot.

And so, first let me introduce you to the Earls of Pouncefoot:

Sir Montague Pouncefoot

Sir Montague Pouncefoot, AKA Monty

Shortly before I left the USA to move back to Adelaide (in 2005), my sister told me about a little old homeless girl-cat who was showing up at my niece's home every night for dinner, and who needed a home. I decided I would let her come live with me and be my cat; I was going to call her Araminta.

So, a day or two after I came home, I went to Laura's house to meet Araminta. What I met was a young (not old), male (not female) cat who needed a home (they got that right...) And so Sir Montague Pouncefoot moved in. He's Boss Cat. The V*t calls him a gentleman - and he is! Very sweet and gentle, my Monty, Kitty that his Meowmie Loves. Monty loves to be outside sleeping in the garden, but every night he curls up with me, on my right.

Sir Abingdon Pouncefoot

Sir Abingdon Pouncefoot, AKA Abby Burton or Abbs.

Abby Burton came to live with Monty and I in '06, when my ex-brother-in-law left Adelaide and moved to Alice Springs. Abbs is my Shy Cat - nervous and timid with strangers and other cats. Unless he doesn't realise he can be seen - oh yes, a lot of Abby's nervousness is an act. Cats! Abby spends the evenings sleeping on the back of my armchair, meaning that I always have to sit sideways... and then he sneaks under the covers and sleeps curled up on my left.

Sir Kimbolton Pouncefoot

Sir Kimbolton Pouncefoot, AKA Kimbie.

And last, but not least, is Kimbie. He was adopted from the Animal Welfare League, but his new family had a boy who was allergic to Kimbie. His First Meowmie worked with my sister, and so Kimbie came to me. he's big and bossy, but also loving and incredibly intelligent. And Kimbie is a Lap Cat (even though he doesn't fit) and sleeps down the bottom of the bed. No room for me...

The Earls of Pouncefoot own two Labradors - and when I can get Toby and Tessa to sit still for more than one second at a time, I'll take their photos for this page.. It might be a while though, because Toby is 3 years and Tessa is 11 months old, so they are still nutcases.

Toby Doggeda

Toby Doggeda

Toby and Tessa, like the Earls of Pouncefoot, were waiting for their Forever Home when I met them. Toby came from the Animal Welfare League at Elizabeth, where I was voluntering as a Cat Cuddler. He had been abused, and was a Special Needs dog. Someone who didn't understand Labs had tried to break his spirit - they almost broke his heart. Now he's just fine, thank you. And Tessa came from the AWL at Wingfield.
